2024 TRYOUTS
TRYOUTS FOR THE 2024 SEASON WILL BE HELD IN THE PRAIRIE HS GYMS
PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT ALL TRYOUT SESSIONS applicable to them!

Throughout the tryout sessions players will participate in physical testing (sprints, running a timed mile, muscle strength/endurance exercises, etc), volleyball drills focusing on passing, setting, hitting, and serving), as well as game play situations.

Please arrive 15 MINUTES prior to the session beginning as we will start ON TIME!

What to wear: t-shirt (no tank tops), sports bra, shorts/spandex, socks, and athletic shoes.
Optional items: knee pads, ankle braces -
What to bring: water bottle, healthy snacks for between sessions
Prairie Volleyball holds a CLOSED TRYOUT! During the tryout sessions only Prairie Coaches, Guest Coaches/Evaluators, and Participants are allowed in the gym. Tryouts are a stressful time and we want to provide the best environment possible without additional distractions.

Get cleared with ASB through family ID

Complete the list of Athletic Eligibility Requirements:
PRIOR TO FIRST PRACTICE/TRYOUTS *including summer activities: *Clear All Fines through the ASB office. If you are an incoming freshman, you will have to clear any fines from your middle school.

Meet Academic Eligibility

Purchase ASB Card & Pay Participation Fee (payment plans can be arranged through the ASB office)

Complete 10 Practices (2 practices on the same day will only count as 1 practice in accordance with WIAA rules. Tryout days count towards your 10 practices.)
3.Get registered through Family ID ASAP

In August, prior to tryouts ALL ATHLETES must receive clearance for the 2024-2025 school year---This includes outstanding fines/fees paid, academic eligibility checked, and registered through family ID.
4. Start or maintain your conditioning! Playing volleyball requires stamina and strength. In addition to volleyball skills, athletes will also do agility, speed, and muscular endurance/strength testing as a part of tryouts.
5. While participation in summer camps/clinics is not required it can be a great way to improve your volleyball skills and better prepare you for tryouts. Visit our "Spring & Summer Info" link for more information. Many local colleges/universities offer high school level volleyball camps as well. For more information visit their athletic homepage.
6. Review the PHS VOLLEYBALL CALENDAR for important dates & times----This includes tryouts, practices, matches, tournaments, and other important dates. Players selected for a team should note that all practices, tournaments, and program activities are MANDATORY unless otherwise stated.
