TRYOUTS FOR THE 2019 SEASON WILL BE HELD IN THE PRAIRIE HS GYMS ON:
PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT ALL TRYOUT SESSIONS!
MONDAY, AUGUST 26 - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28
VIEW CALENDAR for times/sessions
  • Throughout the tryout sessions players will participate in physical testing (sprints, running a timed mile, muscle strength/endurance exercises, etc), volleyball drills focusing on passing, setting, hitting, and serving), as well as game play situations.  
  • Please arrive 15 MINUTES prior to the session beginning as we will start ON TIME!          
  • What to wear: t-shirt (no tank tops), sports bra, shorts/spandex, socks, and athletic shoes. 
                           Optional items: knee pads, ankle braces
  • What to bring: water bottle, healthy snacks for between sessions
Prairie Volleyball holds a CLOSED TRYOUT! During the tryout sessions only Prairie Coaches, Guest Coaches/Evaluators, and Participants are allowed in the gym. Tryouts are a stressful time and we want to provide the best environment possible without additional distractions.
BE PREPARED FOR FALL 2019 TRYOUTS--PLEASE READ OVER THE INFORMATION BELOW SO YOU ARE PREPARED!
  1. Pick up your "sports packet" from the Prairie ASB office OR print off the forms here:
  2. Complete the list of Athletic Eligibility Requirements:​​​​​​​
PRIOR TO FIRST PRACTICE/TRYOUTS *including summer activities:   *Clear All Fines through the ASB office. If you are an incoming freshman, you will have to clear any fines from your middle school.
PLAYERS WHO MAKE A TEAM & PRIOR TO FIRST COMPETITION/MATCH:
  1. Meet Academic Eligibility
  2. Purchase ASB Card & Pay Participation Fee (payment plans can be arranged through the ASB office)
  3. Complete 10 Practices (2 practices on the same day will only count as 1 practice in accordance with WIAA rules. Tryout days count towards your 10 practices.)
    3. ​​​Turn in your complete sports packet ASAP!!!​
  • *The Prairie ASB office must have your completed packet processed before you are released to participate in ANY athletic opportunities (including pre-season).
  • In August, prior to tryouts ALL ATHLETES must receive clearance for the 2018-2019 school year---This includes outstanding fines/fees paid, academic eligibility checked, and (if not already turned in) Sports Packet & current Sports Physical. 
    4. Start or maintain your conditioning! Playing volleyball requires stamina and strength.  In addition to volleyball skills, athletes will also do agility, speed, and muscular endurance/strength testing as a part of tryouts.
    5. While participation in summer camps/clinics is not required it can be a great way to improve your volleyball skills and better prepare you for tryouts.     6. Review the PHS VOLLEYBALL CALENDAR for important dates & times----This includes tryouts, practices, matches, tournaments, and other important dates. Players selected for a team should note that all practices, tournaments, and program activities are MANDATORY unless otherwise stated.
